THE STORY:
Continued from L&C Ep2. The Criminal's Cache (Pioneer's Park)...
The man was already gone by the time Lanny and Coe arrived at the next location. Taking the information they had, they were able to locate the next stash and what they found inside was extremely confusing.
“I just don’t understand what this has to do with anything.” Lanny said as he gazed upon the contents that lay before him. It wasn’t much, but he felt like everything they needed was right here, it was just a matter of putting together the pieces.
Coe was busying himself with the container itself, opening and shutting the lid. “This thing is cool, can we take it home with us?” He said as he slammed the lid down and caught one of his fingers in it. “Ow!”
Lanny continued to look at the contents and without looking up said, “It’s chained down. Whoever put it here didn’t want anyone taking it with them, so let’s avoid being mugglers and just leave it be yeah?”
“Alright…” Coe said dejected as he looked around. “Hey look Lanny, are those footprints?”
Sure enough, they both stood up and took a couple steps toward the impressions left by the man. The footprints headed off down the path.
“Coe put this stuff back in the box.” Lanny said without even looking at his younger brother. He heard the lid slam shut. As soon as he felt Coe take his hand, he started following the footprints down the path.
It was time to find out what was actually going on.
Again, it seemed like the boys had just missed the man and yet, it was probably for the best because the location they were in now looked very much like a hideout. It wasn’t the kind of place two kids wanted to find themselves trapped with a possible criminal.
As the two entered the lair, they couldn’t help but get chills. It was creepy that was for sure, but the question still hung in the air. Who was this man? Why was he going around to all these locations? What was his end game? Lanny felt like they might actually be in a place where they could get some real answers. If this is his hideout, he probably has his personal stash hidden somewhere. And then they saw it.
