Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Carnegie Story Trail at Ledmore & Migdale

What is the Carnegie Story Trail?
The Carnegie Story Trail follows a 2.5 mile route through beautiful native woodlands, with stops at seven secret locations, where chapters of a special story are hidden. The trail is suitable for moderately nimble adults and children. Pushchairs will be able to follow much of the route, but some of the hiding spots are off-path.

Why Carnegie?
The industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835–1919) once owned these woods. Carnegie believed that everyone should have access to books, and he built many public libraries around the world. He also endowed the Carnegie Medal, which is awarded each year for an outstanding work of children’s literature. Our story has been written by Carnegie Medal winning Scottish author Theresa Breslin, to celebrate the connection between Ledmore & Migdale, Andrew Carnegie and children’s literature. It is suitable for young readers, but will appeal to all ages. The story has been illustrated by Scottish artist Kate Leiper, with beautiful images inspired by the woodland and its wildlife.

How do I find the hidden story?
Each chapter of the story has been placed in a different Geocache.
