FR - La chapelle de Notre Dame des Neiges, dont le nom officiel est Notre Dame de la Visitation, fut fondée en 1705. Elle se situe dans le hameau de Beaupraz au dessus des Lanches à la porte du Parc National de la Vanoise. Une messe y est dite au mois de juin et octobre, aux dates de la migration de la population de Peisey aux villages des Lanches et de Beaupraz. Parfois en fin de journée en été la cloche sonne pour appeler les fidèles à la messe.
Le 5 août 366 à Rome Notre Dame des Neiges désigna par une chute de neige l'emplacement où devait être construite la basilique Sainte-Marie-Majeure. A l'intérieur de la chapelle le tableau du retable et le devant de l'autel évoquent la visitation, la visite de Sainte Marie à sa cousine Elisabeth, enceinte de St Jean-Baptiste. Saint Jean Baptiste est représenté à droite de l'autel. Saint-Laurent, patron des pauvres, porte la palme et le grill de son martyre. (source http://www.peisey-vallandry.com)

EN - The chapel of Our Lady of the Snows, whose official name is Our Lady of the Visitation, was founded in 1705. It is located in the hamlet of Beaupraz above Les Lanches at the door of the Vanoise National Park. Inside the chapel the altarpiece and the front of the altar show the visitation, the visit of St. Mary to her cousin Elizabeth, pregnant with John the Baptist.
