Geocache Description:

Welton Church Drawing

St. James’ Church Welton in the County of Cumbria was built in 1873 as a Chapel of Ease in the Parish of St. Mary Sebergham. As the River Caldew divides the Welton part from the Sebergham part (Sebergham High Bound and Sebergham Low Bound) it was thought to be a help to those on the West side of the river.

In 1976 after a pastoral reorganisation of a number of parishes St. James’s Church,  Welton was added to Holy Trinity Parish Rosley.   St. Mary’s Sebergham became part of the Caldbeck team along with Castle Sowerby. St James's Church seats around 80 with extras in the choir stalls if necessary.

In March 2010 the Rosley team and the Caldbeck team were amalgamated and nowform a grouping comprising Rosley, Westward, Welton, Sebergham, Castle Sowerby and Caldbeck

If anybody would like to expand  this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first atchurchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list
