Om museet

Rackstadmuseet kretsar kring skulptören Christian Eriksson och Rackstadkolonin, konstnärer som bodde och verkade i trakterna kring förförra sekelskiftet. Förutom Christian Eriksson bestod kolonin av Erikssons vänner Gustaf och Maja Fjaestad, Björn Ahlgrensson och Fritz Lindström som flyttade till trakten, och de lokala målarna Alfred Ekstam, Bror Sahlström, Ture Ander och Bror Lind. Maja Fjaestad, en duktig målare och textilare, ingick i gruppen som startade Sveriges äldsta kontsthantverksbutik, ”Arvika Konsthantverk” i 1922.

Museet öppnade 1993, och man beslöt placera museet i anknytning till Christian Erikssons föräldrahem ”Haget”, som utgör entrébyggnaden i museet, och Erikssons bostad ”Oppstuhage” som han lät bygga då han flyttade hem från Paris. I anknytning till museet finns också ”Nytomta minnesgård”, en minnesgård över Olof Eriksson och hans familj. Olof var farfar till Christian Eriksson, och till de andra bröderna Ola, Elis och Karl som också var var skickliga hantverkare. I museets samlingar finns konst och konsthantverk, möbler, textilier, keramik, smide och glas som har anknytning till Rackstadkolonin, men också föremål från nyare tid, samt att museet året om har växlande utställningar.

Om cachen

För att hitta cachen måste du göra en vandring i museumsparken och på Nytomta. Du behöver inte gå in i byggnader eller genom privata trädgårdar.

Börja vid koordinaterna. Vid varje ställe du kommer till hittar du information på skulpturer eller byggnader. Notera dig den första bokstaven ”A” och konvertera den till en siffra (alfabetet), och notera det första fyrsiffriga årtalet ”BBBB”. Räkna ut distans och bäring och promenera sedan för att hitta nästa punkt. Observera! Du ändrar bokstaven "A" och nummer "BBBB" i beräkningarna nedan varje gång du får ny information.

1. Börja med att gå 46 meter med bäring 81^o från startkoordinaterna. .

2. Informationen här är på skulpturen, inte på husväggen. Gå 128 + A meter med bäring BBBB-1790^o

3. Kolla på skulpturen, därefter gå (24*A) + 1 meter med bäring BBBB-1676^o

4. Kolla på informationen på väggen. Därefter gå (10*A) + 1 meter med bäring BBBB-1859^o

5. Nu har du bara finalen kvar:

Observera att noggrannheten kan variera med några meter, men det ska inte vara så svårt hitta den information som avses när du närmar dig rätt ställe.

Eftersom det är en letterbox finns en stämpel i cachen. Den får inte bytas eller plockas med, utan ska användas av den som vill stämpla i sin egen letterbox-loggbok. Signera loggboken i cachen som vanligt.

About the Museum

Rackstadmuseet revolves around sculptor Christian Eriksson and ”Rackstadkolonin” a community of artists who lived and worked in the area around the turn of the century (1900). Besides Christian Eriksson the colony consisted of Erik's friends Gustaf and Maja Fjaestad, Björn Ahlgrensson and Fritz Lindström who all moved to the neighbourhood, and the local painters Alfred Ekstam, Brother Sahlström, Ture Andersen and Bror Lind. Maja Fjaestad, a skilled painter and textile artist, was part of the group who started Sweden´s oldest craft shop, ”Arvika Konsthantverk” in 1922.

The museum opened in 1993, and it was decided to place the museum in connection with ”Haget”, the house where Christian Eriksson grew up. The building forms the entrance building of the museum. The museum also consists of Eriksson's home ”Oppstuhage” which he built when he moved back from Paris. In connection to the museum there is also ”Nytomta Minnesgård”, the yard of Olof Eriksson and his family. Olof was the grandfather of Christian Eriksson, and Christian´s brothers Ola, Elis and Karl were also skilled craftsmen. The museum's collections include arts and crafts, furniture, textiles, pottery, wrought iron and glass related to ”Rackstadkolonin”, but also subjects of recent times, and changing exhibitions throughout the year.

The cache

To find the cache, take a stroll in the museum park and at Nytomta. You do not need to go into buildings or in private gardens.

Start at the coordinates. At each stage you come to, you will find written information on the sculpture or building. You don´t have to understand swedish, just take a note of the first letter "A" (the alphabet) and convert it to a number, and then note the first four-digit year "BBBB". Calculate distance and bearing, and then stroll over to find the next stage. Note! You change the letter "A" and number "BBBB" in the calculations below every time you get new information.

1. Start by walking 46 meters with a bearing of 81^o from the start coordinates.

2. Here you shall look at the sculpture, not the wall. Then walk 128 + A meter with a bearing of BBBB-1790^o

3. Look at the sculpture and calculate. Then walk (24 * A) +1 meters with a bearing of BBBB-1676^o

4. Look at the information on the wall. Then walk (10 * A) + 1 meter with a bearing of BBBB-1859^o

Now you only have the final left:

5. Look at the information on the wall. Then walk (5 * A) + 10 meters with a bearing of BBBB-1856^o

Please note that the accuracy can vary by a few meters, but it should not be that difficult to find the information you are searching for when you approach the right place.

Since this is a Letterbox there is a stamp in the cache. This should not be traded or picked up, it should be used by those who wants to stamp their own letterbox logbook. Sign the logbook in the cache as usual.
