The Flatirons have always been one of my favorite parts of living in Boulder, and so I thought it right that they be the catalyst for placing my first geocache. This cache isn't so much about the find as it is about the view - no wonder the nearby soccer fields are called Pleasant View.
The parking lot in which the cache is situated in is not open most of the time – you can take your chances parking right outside the gate, or you could park in the adjacent neighborhood and walk a little ways to the cache (see waypoints for recommended parking spot). However, biking or walking is by far the best way to get to the cache - GZ is close to quite a few bike routes, and restrooms and water are usually available during the summer. If you're into it, there's also some pretty decent birding to be done in the marshy area just north of the field.
PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT SEARCHING FOR THIS CACHE WHEN THE PARKING LOT IS OPEN!
If the parking lot is open, that probably means there's a soccer/ultimate frisbee/whatever tournament going on. This means lots and lots and lots of Muggles, and that probably includes a handful of very young and curious Muggles eager to mess with with a container full of treasure that they saw someone hide and then walk away from. Typically, the parking lot is open most weekends during the summer and fall, so a weekday (or the cover of darkness) is likey your best bet.
