Geocache Description:

Another Shannock cache in the Sheringham area that gives you great views over the coast. Who said Norfolk was flat?

This is one of 4 caches on hills overlooking Sheringham in North Norfolk. This coastal strip of North Norfolk was the limit of spread of the ice cap during the last ice age. Consequently, when it melted (around 12000 years ago), it left behind piles of flint and sand, now known as the Holt - Cromer Ridge. This makes it the hilliest bit of Norfolk, and this series of 4 caches gives you the opportunity to make the most of the views!

The other 3 caches are : On the Hump, Skelding Hill, and Hooks Hill

There is room to squeeze a vehicle in at N52 55.730, E01 13.465. Then cross the road, head north briefly, then turn right into a steep public bridleway. Climb to the top, then follow your gps.

This area is Beeston Regis Heath, and it is believed there were iron-age iron works in this area. After finding the cache, retrace your steps then head north to N52 55.788, E01 13.670 for a great view to the north. Descend by the path in front of you. This is known as "Grandmother's steps" by locals, but no-one seems to know why!  .

The cache, a small clip-top food container should not be hard to find. We've brought you up here for the view, not to test your caching skills! Please make sure it is well concealed when you replace it!

This Cache has been placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.
