Geocache Description:

These caches are on some of the rural roads of Calhoun County. Enjoy the less traveled roads and see some unusual, interesting and historic places.

The cache has been placed at the Hefner Cemetery

The Hefner Cemetery is also known as the Hefner-Goode Cemetery. This remote little Cemetery has 42 interments dating back to the mid 1800's with numerous interesting old stones and makers.

Just off the Blacktop past the Cemetery marker and up the gravel road. The Cemetery entrance is at the top of the hill on the right just over the cattle guard.

The Cemetery grounds were rather overgrown and in need of mowing when we visited making the actual entrance and cattle guard a bit difficult to see. Look for the opening in the fence.

Please be respectful of the surroundings.

There is no reason to disturb anything on, or around the headstones or grave markers.

The cemetery is open from dawn until dusk, which is the only time the cache is available. Please do not attempt this cache at night.

The container is a camo painted Bison Tube that holds only a log sheet.

Bring a writing instrument to sign the log – this is a small log sheet so sign with date and name only.

Bugs, Insects, Critters, Snakes or Poisonous Plants could be present. Search accordingly.

Access to this cache is by a single track gravel road. Use some discretion when leaving the gravel roadway if the ground is wet.
