Geocache Description:

Catch the little fairy geocacher and tell her your geocaching goals. Then give her a fairy sized decorative gift. In return she may grant your wish.

Nantucket’s little geocaching fairy lives by the entrance of the Squam Swamp forest. She is very materialistic and messy and only grants wishes to people who tidy her home and leave her small items to decorate her dwelling with. DO NOT STEAL THE FAIRY OR HER POSSESSIONS! Stealing from the fairy will cause her to doom you to a lifetime of boring caches with missing logs, rocks for swag, and excessive DNFs! If you don’t rehide her well and you allow a muggle to get hold of her she will make sure you never achieve your geocaching goals!

Let's see how magical the fairy's home can get over the years while still keeping this cache and the fairy's magic completely secret and unnoticeable by all the non-geocachers who walk by her. Feel free to upload your photos with the fairy and her home to the log. I don’t recommend leaving travel bugs with the fairy, she likes her privacy and may cast spells on travel bugs dooming them to not travel far for a long time.

About the area: Squam Swamp is one of Nantucket's spectacular, but often overlooked, treasures. It consists of stunning hardwood forests with very weird looking trees, freshwater bogs, shrub swamps, grassy meadows, and vernal pools. This property is dominated by hardwood forests of tupelo, red maple, sassafras, and American beech trees interspersed with fern-filled pockets of wetlands. A clear (but uneven, stroller-unfriendly) walking trail and accompanying interpretive brochure provides an introduction to many of the ecological, geological, and historical features of this property. The entire1.75 mile round trip trail is well marked and has numbered posts keyed to the interpretive map. Anyone visiting the island for the week should put seeing Squam Swamp forest on their to do list! It’s best enjoyed by families during dry weather. Cell service is spotty in parts. Wear orange when walking the trail during hunting season (late fall.)

Note: There are other geocaches in this area too.
