WW11 - The Toynbee Memorial Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs I am archiving it.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported. Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center.

Geocache Description:

There's more to Wimbledon than just tennis.

The Wimbledon Wander is a series of 12 caches that takes you around some other sights in the area. The circuit starts near Wimbledon station, so leave your car at home and enjoy the walk. The whole loop is about 5 miles in length and will take you 3-4 hours to complete. The first 10 caches contain a clue to the location of the bonus cache. Good luck!

This drinking fountain was erected in 1868 in memory of Joseph Toynbee by the ‘working men of Wimbledon’. Toynbee (1815-1866), the father of the social philosopher Arnold Toynbee, founded the Metropolitan Association for Improving the Dwellings of the Working Classes.

You are now in Wimbledon Village, with lots of fancy shops and restaurants along the High Street. Please note that you do not need to find a bonus cache letter here.
