Kurume forest azalea park
The place in the way to the Minou scenic mountain highway on the east side of Okunoin in Takara Taisha is the "Kurume forest azalea park" learned about by Kurume azalea.
This was the suitable place where Yamaki in whom Kikuchi clan was based in the period of North and South dynasties formerly (Bishamon gakushiro) can get a bird's-eye view of Tsukushi-heiya at a trace.
100 kinds of 61,000 stocks of azalea is planted in the park made using this condition, and even consecutive holidays are best time from the middle of April.
There are a cherry tree and a maple and I lend gaiety to spring and autumn. The scud stand which can get a bird's-eye view of Tsukushi-heiya in a southwestern corner in a forest azalea park has the monument of "of a rape blossom, it's quite yellow, becoming Chikugo-gawa" Natsume Soseki composed.

Bloom time of the azalea, Kurume azalea and Hirado azalea bloom big, and I make them feel luxury and grandness. When I'd like the place where it can be looked around under the eyes from this place in Kurume-shi, it's famous. And I think this place is the place everyone can be enjoyed from a child to an adult.
When I come here on a fine day, feeling is investigated. Bloom time of the azalea is best, but fresh and green green and autumnal tints can also be enjoyed at any time of the year around wonderfully in other seasons.
久留米森林つつじ公園
高良大社の奥の院の東側の耳納スカイラインの途中にあるところが、久留米つつじで知られる「久留米森林つつじ公園」です。
ここは、かつて南北朝時代に菊池一族が拠点とした山城（毘沙門嶽城）跡で、筑紫平野を一望できるという格好の地でした。
この条件を生かして作られた公園には100種61,000株のつつじが植えられ、4月中旬から連休までが見頃です。
また、桜や楓などがあり春秋に彩りを添えています。 森林つつじ公園の西南の角の筑紫平野を一望できる飛雲台には、夏目漱石が詠んだ「菜の花の遥かに黄なり筑後川」の歌碑があります。
耳納スカイラインのドライブ、ハイキングに絶好のポイントの一つです。
久留米森林つつじ公園のツツジ群
つつじの開花時期、久留米つつじや平戸つつじが大きく咲き誇り、豪華さや雄大さを感じさせます。また、この場所から久留米市内を眼下に見渡せるところが良いと評判。そして、この場所は子供から大人まで誰でも楽しめる場所だと思います。
天気の良い日にここへ来ると気持ちが洗われます。つつじの開花時期が最高ですが、他の季節でも、青々とした緑や紅葉もすばらしく一年中楽しめます。
足元が滑りやすいです。
