Isaac Robertson
Private, Company D 2nd Regiment Alabama Cavalry
His grandfather, Major James “Horseshoe” Robertson, was a soldier serving in the South Carolina Continental Line during the Revolutionary War. Although his grandfather’s rank was self-assumed, he was in fact a soldier fighting in the revolution. When Isaac was 6 years old, his grandfather died and was buried in a cemetery on the west bank of the Black Warrior River.
Isaac also served as a soldier, as a Private in Company D of the 2nd Regiment of Alabama Cavalry. The company he mustered in with was made up of men from Tuscaloosa County, the regiment itself formed in Montgomery in 1862.
