Geocache Description:

This old cemetery in the community of Lac-des-Loups is home to many of the area's former residents.

The cemetery is across the street from the church of its namesake but behind a building.

I've only seen a few wooden crosses in all of the cemeteries I've visited but this one had several. Something else new to me, was metal crosses. Most of them had no inidication as to who they were in memory of, but a few had either a built in plaque, or an engraved plaque added at a much later date. Sadly, there was one wooden cross which was lying on the ground. Whether it was simply due to the rotting of the wood, or by vandalism, it's very sad to see.

Of course, as with any cemetery cache, please do not search for this at night so as not to alarm the neighbours.

The variety of grave markers clearly indicates the status of the deceased. Besides the wooden crosses, there are a couple of quite elaborate gravestones from the same era.

One interesting discovery made while walking around the cemetery was that of a memorial rock which is almost completely blocked from view (very close to GZ) by the overgrown shrubs and tree branches.  It seems to be a general thank you to the hard working lumbermen in the area for leaving a legacy.  It's made up of a large circular saw, a hand saw blade, and some axes and handles. If you want to take a closer look at it, be prepared to fight with some prickly juniper bushes and raspberry plants.
