Geocache Description:

The Polmaddy Village cache is hidden near the abandoned village of Polmaddy.

You will get to the cache area from the A713 - look for the Forestry Commision signs for "Polmaddy".  Follow the forest track for about 600m until you get to the parking area.  There is parking next to the information board, and once you have found the cache, you can cross the bridge and follow the trail around the ruins, to discover what life used to be like in the old village.  View the ruins of the Inn, Corn Kiln, Houses and Mill, etc.

For more information, please visit: http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/63815/details/polmaddy/

To get to the cache you WILL NOT have to cross the bridge, or climb down the steep river bank!  However - if you want to follow the trail around the village, bear in mind that it can get a bit boggy and wet in places!  It is a rough path, therefore not suitable for wheelchairs or prams.

The cache is a small tupperware box, which at the time of placing the cache, was filled with small tools - it is not necessary to leave tools, so please take what you like and leave what you like :) There isn't much room in there! There is also a little something in there for the First To Find!

Cache placed with the kind permission of Forestry Commission Scotland

*****THERE MAY BE A BULL WANDERING AROUND THE RUINED VILLAGE, SO BEWARE!!! :o) ***** You can still get to the cache though :o)
