This is our first geocache and placed in collaboration with our four kids. It contains some swappables from the kids. It's at the intersection of a very busy road and a very quiet road. Best to visit outside of rush hour to avoid curious looks from commuters waiting for the bus or in traffic. Please BYOP and replace cache exactly as found to keep it out of plain sight.
Until not that long ago, this immediate area was the site of a busy and dangerous intersection. The County Drive / Castle Hill Road intersection did not exist and David Road connected to Castle Hill Road for vehicles entering the residential and retirement neighbourhood bordering Castle Hill and Cherrybrook.
Until 2000, County Drive stopped 30 m short of Castle Hill Road as the 'the road to nowhere' and the 'Great Wall of Cherrybrook'. When County Drive was finally and fully extended, County Drive became the main thoroughfare and David Road was turned into a dead end that is now only used to access the Anglican Retirement Village - a massive 115 ha property originally founded in the 1950s as a retirement village for the care of war veterans and retiring clergy and church workers. You can still see some remnants of the original ARV development in the form of some stone walls and gate features that once bordered the original David Road intersection.
It's now also the site of our very first cache offering! Enjoy.
FTF goes to 'alfyboy'.
