Geocache Description:

SideTracked - Worcester Shrub Hill

Having done some of the SideTracked series i felt it a shame there wasn't any in Worcester. Now that The Strangler has beat me to placing one at Foregate Street I thought I should hurry up and place one here! Especially as this is my starting point for any train journeys I take!

Worcester Shrub Hill is one of 2 railway stations serving the city of Worcester. The other can be found at GC5VA76. Worcester Shrub Hill is managed by London Midland and has 3 platforms.

The first station at Shrub Hill was opened in 1850 being jointly owned by the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton and Midland Railways; until 1852 it was used only as a terminus for the latter's services from Birmingham.

The current Station in exsistance was built in 1865 and designed by an Edward Wilson. It is a Georgian-style building mainly of engineering brick with stone facings. There also used to be a train shed but this was removed in the 1930s.

London Midland and First Great Western service this station and due to it's sidings, Worcester Shrub Hill is often used as stabling point for goods trains and locomotives, as well as an overnight stop for some First Great Western rolling Stock.

You shall be looking for a key safe with room for small TB's. I shall be letting my TB loose here (TB6QH63) Thomas The Tank Engine, whose mission will be to visit all the SideTracked caches!
