Unfortunately, I'm not actually taking you to the bunker today. It's about 300yds South of Weights farm. It could be seen from the original cache location, but I had to move it due to construction works at GZ. As with many other ROC caches, it's on private land. At some point, I shall relocate the cache closer to the bunker location.
If you do choose to approach, you will see that the bunker is half exposed. this is quite rare as these were designed to be several feet underground. The bunker appears to be half full of sand: it may be that the landowner has filled it in with sand dug out from around it in order to deactivate it. The ventilation shaft is bent to one side, but still attached by the steel reinforcing rods.
There is safe parking for two cars on the approach to GZ, and more space as you go past it.
The ROC cache series is open to everyone: if you know of an ROC UMP and would like to place a cache there, or have already done so and would like to join the series, then please contact BaseOverApex through Geocaching.com. This is to keep track of the numbers of bunkers which have caches nearby and to help keep tabs on their condition. We'll also give you a piece of text to cut-n-paste into your listing and hopefully the station's correct moniker to add to the cache title. Throughout the UK there are over 1500 ROC UMPs and when this project was started (August 2014) we could only find about 15 with caches. The hope is to grow this very rapidly.
