Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted co-ordinates, this is the starting point. Parking is available at both the starting point and the cache so please do not park on the road or in a driveway. It is a nice walk through the quaint village of Ortonville by the sidewalk so walking is recommended. The starting point and the cache is accessible or close to the sidewalk so no bush whacking in involved.


This cache is winter friendly but not snow friendly. Any more then a dusting of snow will raise the difficulty.

This cache is placed in honor for those who served in the Armed Forces from the surrounding area. This is the Donald J Kengerski Memorial Park built by the VFW Post 582 and the Village of Ortonville. The answers for the following questions can be found by reading the memorial bricks placed in the ground.

To find the North co-ordinates answer the following questions in order that will give you the numbers for the last five digits. N 42 12.345

  1. What is the first number in the VFW Post that built the park?

  2. What is last number of the last year that Edward Gromek served?

  3. What is the second number of the first year that Sandra Filhart served?

  4. What is the fourth number in the first year that Don Kengerski served in Korea?

  5. What is the fourth number in the first year that Ralph Turnbull served in the Navy?

 

To find the West co-ordinates answer the following questions in order that will give you the numbers for the last five digits. W 83 12.345

  1. What is the fourth number in the first year that Merlin Saunders served?

  2. What is the second number in the Chapter of the D.A.V.?

  3. What infantry was Don Kengerski in?

  4. What is the second number of the first year that Derek Landis served?

  5. What is the last number in the second year that Robert Wilke served?

With the provided co-ordinates this will lead you to the cache by the sidewalk. Please no short cuts through yards or private property. You will need a pair of tweezers or needle nose pliers. Please replace the cache as you found it or better.
