Cache Details
There are various high road & low road options between the stages, so take your pick, but take account of the weather conditions. Low road options next to the creek are scenic, but can be muddy and wet....
The cache consists of 2 stages and a final. At GZ you need to find the container and provide one final answer to log the find. In order to identify the correct coordinates the following questions need to be answered. The answers are all found at the locations of the 1st and 2nd stages.
Stage 1
At the posted coordinates you will find an information kiosk, one of many that can be found around the Oakville trails. The following information must be obtained from the info kiosk and you can take some extra time to read up on the history....
A : The Watershed: Around what year was the dam built to feed the Roselawn apple orchards? (Keep an eye out for the structure on the way to the other stages)
B: The Lakeshore Estates: What year did jeweller James Rynie become the first of Toronto's elite to buy acreage for the estate, Edgemere?
C : Farming: What is the current address of the property now called “The Orchards”? (street number)
To calculate the coordinates of Stage 2:
Take sum of "A" & “B” divided by 10,000 and deduct it from the following meaningless coordinates. W79 38.9697 - This will give you West for stage 2
Take "C" divided by 1,000 and deduct it from the following meaningless coordinates. N43 30.428 - This will give you North for stage 2.
N 43 30.4280 – C/1000 = N43 ??.????
W 79 38.9697 – (A+B)/10,000 = W79 38.????
Stage 2
At the coordinates calculated in the previous step you will find a structure that forms part of the walking trail. The following information is required....
D: Find the safe carrying capacity in kg's?
E: What is the white Identity number?
To calculate the coordinates of Final location:
Take "D" divided by 10,000 and deduct it from the following meaningless coordinates. W79 38.71456 - This will give you West for final
Take "E" divided by 100,000 and deduct it from the following meaningless coordinates. N43 29.75489 - This will give you North for final.
N43 29.75489 – E/100,000 = N43 29.????
W 79 38.71456 – (D)/10,000 = W79 38.????
Final
At the final stage you will need to find the “Eagle’s Landing” –
To log the find :
You have to find the cache which is strategically placed - so you will have to be careful when grabbing it and more careful replacing it. It’s a small container with a pencil and log sheet but bring your own pen/pencil to sign the log in case the pencil is blunt
As an optional extra you can also look for the “Eagle’s landing” rule, found in close proximity as part of your online log.
