Geocache Description:

Sawdust and Salmon takes you to a beautiful, secluded place that is very close to a large industrial facility. If the weather is nice you might want to take a picnic and linger a while. At the right time of year (early Fall) you might see the salmon fighting their way up stream to spawn.

Sawdust and Salmon is located close to Sinclair Creek less than 100 metres away from the sawdust storage area at the large saw mill in Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia. The cache is located downstream from a picnic area that is accessed by a gravel road (turn right off Forsters Landing Road just before the mill entrance) that goes around the perimeter of the log storage yard. The amount and size of the logs stored in the yard is impressive.  From the picnic area parking lot you can see the piles of sawdust stored at the mill prior to being transported to another mill where the sawdust is burned in a boiler used for power generation. The trail takes you through a treed area littered with deadfall where often woodpeckers can be spotted. You are never far from the creek and there are several small branches off the trail leading to the bank. One of these leads you to the cache which is in a small clearing next to the creek, it is a lovely spot to linger by the fast flowing water and maybe have a picnic or a cool drink. The cache contains some small items for "swaps" - mainly for kids. Leave it well-hidden before you leave.
