Senkapiais vadinami senoviniai kapai, kuriuose geležies amžiuje Lietuvos teritorijoje buvo laidojami žmonės. Supiltose kalvelėse, kurios galėjo būti kelių metrų aukščio bei keliolikos metrų skersmens, palaikai buvo užkasami nedeginti. Dažniausiai vienoje vietoje galima rasti ne vieną palaidojimą, nes tik svarbiausiems gentiems asmenims buvo skiriamas atskiras palaidojimas. Kartu su laidojamuoju asmeniu buvo dedamos įkapės - įvairūs daiktai, kurie pagal tikėjimą turėjo padėti asmeniui po mirties. Dėl to palaidojimai labai kenčia nuo juodųjų archeologų.

Usually, such places were used for few humans, because only the most important people of the tribe could have a separate grave. Various shroud can be found in the ancient cemeteries - various items that could possibly help the deceased in the afterlife. Because of that, ancient cemeteries are usually the targets of the black archaeologists.
