Who is Murdis?
Who is Murdis you ask.
Murdis was a fun figment of my bizarre imagination.
When I was married and we were going to have our first child we decided to be surprised at the sex of the baby. This really upset many in our family but we were determined to be surprised.
Relatives were asking what names we had picked out for boys and girls. I came up with the name Murdis for either boy or girl.
This was a joke at first but we thought how fun to see how long we could pull off this bizarre joke.
Murdis they would all say, what kind of a name is Murdis. I said it’s a fine name for either a boy or girl.
They all remained that I had lost it.
In reality we had picked out boy and girl names but kept them to ourselves.
In 1997/98 when this was all going on I lived at this intersection.
In early 1998 Murdis was about to be born. Many family and friends were gathered in Gilroy waiting with baited breath for the arrival of this baby.
When the time finally arrived I helped deliver my first child, a beautiful healthy baby girl……Kathleen.
Murdis was no more, now just a fun story that all still enjoy.
Everyone was so relieved to learn that it was all just my strange humor all along.
That’s the story of Murdis.
Today she goes by Katie, which represents the K in KEMBORG.
