Have you ever wondered just what types of snakes are in the Las Vegas and surrounding areas? This series of 30 caches will help you learn a bit about them. I personally have never come across any in the 4 yrs I have been caching but I sure would like to get a picture of one, with my zoom lens of course. :)
This is a Mojave Rattlesnake. I do not want to get to close to this bad boy, but I would like to photograph one. It is scary looking but strangely beautiful. Supposedly four feet is far enough away to observe him but that seems waaay to close for me. Most snakes would rather flee or hide from humans, only if cornered will they become defensive. So if you do come across one just stay back and give it space. This series snakes around a dirt road so there is parking where ever you need it. The road is not to bad but may not be car friendly, trucks and jeeps will be fine. Remember to bring plenty of water and a snack. The desert has all sorts of pokey things and critters so be safe and have fun. :)
Congrats to Skyhawker for the FTF!
