Geocache Description:

A series of caches commemorating the 343 firefighters that passed on September 11th, 2001. This is going to be a series where one cache is dedicated to every firefighter that fell that day. With each cache, a biography of the firefighter who gave his last act of valor will be placed in the summary. Please take the time to look through some of these biographies.

Gerard A. Barbara

Assistant Chief

Fire Department of New York

New York

Age: 53

My husband Jerry was with the FDNY for 31 years. We were married for 30 years. We have two children‚ Caren and Paul. Jerry was a devoted dad‚ my husband and my best friend. On September 11‚ 2001 he was the incident commander of Tower #2. He was leading the rescue efforts for the civilians and instructing the firefighters as they responded to the World Trade Center. But my husband had more to his life than just the fire department. He loved to be with his family. His children were his pride. He was so proud of their achievements. He worked and studied hard to give them a better life.
