Ihr seid hier in der Nähe des westlichen Eingangs von Eisenburg. Von dort aus sind es ca. 2 km nach Memmingen. Es gibt noch einen zweiten Weg von MM aus, über Trunkelsberg. Hier liegt am Ortseingang mein Geocache GC5WFVA „Willkommen in Eisenburg – Ost“ :-)
Eisenburg ist seit 01. Juli 1976 ein Stadtteil von Memmingen und hat damit auch die Postleitzahl 87700. Hier wohnen ca. 1488 Menschen (2009). Der Name „Eisenburg“ leitet sich wahrscheinlich von der hiesigen Burg ab, und diese hat ihren Namen wiederrum von dem Berg, auf dem sie steht. Dieser ist nämlich sehr eisenhaltig.
Die nachweisbare Geschichte Eisenburgs geht bis ins Jahr 1208 zurück. Wahrscheinlich ist es allerdings schon aus der vorrömischen Zeit, wie Funde von Alemannengräber vermuten lassen.
Für die ersten drei Finder sind Mini-Urkunden drin :-)
Über das Denkmal Hl. Ulrich kann ich leider gar nicht viel sagen. Auf einer Tafel steht nur, dass es 1990 vom Bürgerausschuss Amendingen gestiftet wurde. Vielleicht weiß jemand von Euch mehr darüber. Über Hinweise bin ich dankbar :-)

Here you are near the west entrance of Eisenburg. From there it is about 2 km to Memmingen. There is a second street from MM to here, via Trunkelsberg. At that entrance you’ll find my geocache GC5WFVA „Willkommen in Eisenburg – Ost“ :-)
Since July 1st, 1976 Eisenburg is a district of Memmingen and therefor it has the same zip code 87700. There are about 1488 inhabitants (2009). The name “Eisenburg” (“Iron castle”) probably comes from the local castle, which again has its name from the hill on which it was built. This hill is very ferruginous.
The traceable history of Eisenburg dates back to the year 1208. It can be assumed that it is even from pre-Roman Age, because there are discoveries of graves of Alemanni.
I can't say much about the monument St. Ulrich. A plate says that it was donated from the citizen's committee Amendingen in 1990. Maybe one of you does know more about it? I am grateful für any information :-)
