Geocache Description:

This cache is a new location for the archived "Snyder's travel bug hotel" (GC1K57) that was in operation from 2008-2014 on the north side of US-62 along US-183.

HEALTH WARNING: Yellow jackets, scorpions and spiders have all been spotted at GZ. Please exercise caution when seeking this one out.

Geocachers Texas Tiger and Schwansman placed an ammo can near a business located about a half-mile north of here in 2008.  While this TB hotel hosted more than 200 travelers over the years, in its last few months of operation, a certain older muggle fancied the visitors that stayed there and began kidnapping them.  He eventually decided he liked the ammo can, too, and removed it from the location.  The loss prompted Texas Tiger to archive the cache in Spring 2014.

Thanks to the efforts of the TB Rescue Team that works the area, the container was eventually located nearly 20 miles away and liberated from the thief, along with the original log and some of its contents.  Unfortunately, there were no TBs in the hotel, so many of its final "guests" continue to be unaccounted for.

I know, this tale has more drama than a Lifetime movie, but it's true.

The ammo can has been given a new paint job that clearly identifies it as a geocache and it is secured with a cable.  This location is on state-owned property with plenty of parking, but much more isolated so that it is hidden from prying eyes. (Look below for the coords to the entrance to parking.)

Like any TB hotel, its primary mission is to serve as a "temporary resting place" for bugs going in different directions.  We all know that no one likes an empty TB hotel, so we ask that you don't remove bugs unless you're leaving an equal or greater number.  Doing so will increase the fun for everyone.  Also, be sure to replace the wood atop the container; it prevents glare that gives away the location of the cache on sunny days.

We're happy this container has gotten new life, and hope that it continues to function as a very busy cache for many more years.

Thanks to Texas Tiger and Schwansman for the original placement of this cache.

NOTE TO NEW GEOCACHERS: What is a travel bug? Simply put, a travel bug is a trackable tag that is usually attached to an item. The item becomes a hitchhiker that is carried from cache to cache (or person to person) in the real world. Its progress can be followed online. It is not meant to be removed and kept by the geocacher who finds it. Read more about trackables here: https://www.geocaching.com/track/travelbugfaq.aspx/.
