Il Forte di Fuentes fu fatto edificare nel 1603 dal governatore del di Ducato Milano (allora sotto dominio spagnolo), Enrique De Acevedo, conte di Fuentes, per difendersi dai confinanti Grigioni che all'epoca occupavano Valtellina e Valchiavenna.
Quando Napoleone arrivò in trionfo a Milano nel 1796 i grigioni chiesero di demolirlo, così come per tutte le altre fortificazioni lombarde già soppresse dai dominatori austriaci nel 1782.
Nel 1914 venne costruita nella parte superiore una struttura in cemento per la linea difensiva della cosiddetta Frontiera Nord.
Le rovine sono state recentemente messe in sicurezza ed anche il geocacher frettoloso non può esimersi da una visita!
Questa cache e la successiva, nascoste all'inizio della salita e prima dell'ingresso al Forte sono un'invito a visitare le rovine e a cercare anche la cache lì nascosta nel 2008 dal geocacher rosadimacchia.

Fort Fuentes was commissioned in 1603 by the governor of the Duchy of Milan (then under Spanish rule), Enrique De Acevedo, Count of Fuentes, to defend from Grisons who at the time occupied Valtellina and Valchiavenna.
When Napoleon arrived in triumph in Milan in 1796 the Grisons asked to demolish the Fort, as well as for all other fortifications in Lombardy already suppressed by the Austrian rulers in 1782.
In 1914 it was built at the top of hill a concrete structure for the defensive line of the so-called Northern Frontier.
The ruins have been recently placed in safety and also the hasty geocachers can not slip off from a visit!
This cache and the next one, hidden respectively at the beginning of the uphill and before the entrance of the Fort are an invitation to visit the ruins and to search the cache hidden there in 2008 by the geocacher rosadimacchia.
