It is a lovely walk along the beach, the further you travel along the beach from Shanklin the fewer people you will see. Both Luccombe Chine and Shanklin Chine were routes for smugglers. To get to the cache I recommend you park on Shanklin seafront, walk along the beach at low tide, it will take 20-30 min each way and remember you need time to find the cache. This cache has a Pirate / Smuggler theme, with 'pieces of eight' and a few other items. Please try and keep to the theme and swap out an item with a Pirate or Smuggler theme.Leave the Fishermans Tavern and journey along the beach west towards Luccombe Chine. Pass the rocks that are visible at low tide and journey on into the next bay. As you get close to the hidden cache you will pass the mini waterfall that is the base of Luccombe Chine. You will need to scramble up into the undergrowth above the high tide mark to find the cache. This cache is the secret hideout of the Shanklin Pirates, a motley crew (of trackables that will be released into the cache) ready to travel at different times during the year. Please take a Pirate trackable (if available) and take them on a journey only if you intend to deposit them in other caches. They will need to be kept away from The British Royal Navy another group of trackables that are chasing them (soon).
