St Peter's Church was built in 1854 and designed by S.S. Tevlon. It was built to service a community that grew up around the weaving factory that was built in the early nineteenth century. 
A trench dug along the church path for a new sewer was inspected in 1996 but no human burials were seen. It therefore seems that the path has been in use in its present alignment since the church was built and that its course has been respected when the graves were dug. No signs of any archaeological remains were found predating the church.
A parish church built in 1854 by S. S. Teulon from red brick with some blue brick and ashlar dressings. It has plain and fish scale tile roofs.
