St Mary’s is a grade II listed traditional stone faced country church with a congregation seating capacity of 130. The church, complete with a working bell tower and a traditional pipe organ, has a number of fine stained glass windows including one dedicated to Peter Collins, F1 racing driver, which reads...
In memory of Peter John Collins 1931-58.
God gave him courage and a cheerful heart.
Peter Collins grew up in nearby Mustow Green and went on to become an F1 driver with HWM, Vanwall, Maserati, and lastly Ferrari. He was tragically killed while competing in the 1958 German Grand Prix. His grave can be found in the churchyard.
Unfortunately the Church was locked when we placed the cache.
The cache is a 35mm canister which contains a few trinkets as swaps. Please take care near the busy road and keep an eye on your geokids.
If anybody would like to expand this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list
