This is a series based on the ancient Irish townland system and while the places chosen may seem a little random, they all mean something to me.
A small plastic container with only a log so BYOP and a TB when first placed. Please return exactly where found.
The Townland of Knockavannon is in the Parish of Ballymyre in the Barony of Fews Upper in The County Of Armagh.
The name probably comes from the Gaelic name 'Cnoc a Mheanain' which means 'Hill of the Kid'.
It measures 774.89 acres making it the 56th largest townland in County Armagh.
It is bordered by Aghincurk, Ballintate, Cavanakill and Ballintemple.
Features include St Malachy's RC Church and Primary School (Ballymoyer) and Knockavannon Orange Hall.
Knockavannon has been chosen because it is the townland where I was brought up for the first twenty nine years of my life. My Dad's farm is to the west of the townland and my geocaching brothers, SniperD and Earlyburd still live there. Many, many happy memories playing on the river which divides Knockavannon and Ballintemple.
