The DOT recently decided to try to fix this old curvy road and the deadly curve just to the east of this location known locally as "snowbird curve". When they started construction, they cleared a large area here and made a view of Fisher's Peak available. The tallest peak you can see here is it, the one with the towers on top. It's just across the state line in Virginia. You can also get a good view of the community of Lowgap below. Please park in the designated parking area - avoid the cache if they're working on the construction. There is ample room to pull off here. Please be careful crossing the road. This is a very busy highway. I highly don't recommend walking up the road to the cache. You can duck across the road (look both ways!) and behind the guardrail to walk up to the cache location. Please be mindful of passing cars, steep inclines, rocky surfaces, ticks, bugs, spiders, snakes, wildlife, etc. Not recommended for small children and not handicap accessible due to location. Sorry, but that's due to the location - that's the best view. BYOP. Micro.
Congrats to ACRS47 for FTF!
