Lochdonhead Bridge was built by Thomas Telford in 1790. The arch of the bridge is 3.8m from the water to the top of the arch. The bridge is 10.7m long. Its other name is Auchnacraig Bridge. Close to the bridge is a church, called The Lochdon Free Church and is a place of worship. It was built in 1852 and was founded in 1853 by John McKane. John McKane was the local blacksmith. There are only four grave stones left standing in the cemetary from 1860 - 1881. Only one of the graves in the graveyard belongs to a woman. Many people stay close by in the Crescent which is situated round the edge of the loch. One of the houses is an old farmhouse with a tin roof. Many birds are found on the loch, namely Herrons, Black-backed gulls, Oyster catchers, crows, greylag geese, robins, mallard ducks, Ospreys, buzzards, cuckoo and white tailed sea eagles and many more. We also have Swans which are protected by the Queen and is also our school logo.
