The scenically-located village of Crossakiel is proud of local man, Jim Connell, author of the internationally famous anthem of the trades union and labour movement, "The Red Flag", who is honoured by a splendid memorial in the village. Crossakiel is also the home of the Kells (motorcycle) Road Races, which transforms the normally quiet village into a glorious riot of noise, colour, smells and indeed more than a whiff of danger during the annual event.
