Geocache Description:

Summer cache only; need a boat (canoe or kayak and calm water) to go to the little beach on the north east side of 3rd Island; a favourite protected picnic area.  Once ashore, a very small game trail winds up through the bush to a little knoll that overlooks a small meadow.  Looking back to the east one can catch a glimpse of Atlin.  The cache is tucked safely away, not "buried" but ground treasure.

This is approximately a 15 minute kayak trip (for older kayakers!) from Atlin shore to 3rd island, picnic spot. The beach at this spot on 3rd island is a good mooring area, (protected from wind) for most boats. Please watch the lake, as it can blow up very quickly, and wait out the weather if it's looking bad, for a safe return. The lake is usually calm earlier in the morning, and afternoon strong winds are common.

We wore good shoes and bug protection to follow a small game trail, that is overgrown and does wind uphill a short distance. You'll know you are close when you overlook the small swampy meadow. There's pokey juniper and a few rocks on this little knoll.
