The monument reads....IN MEMORY OF WILLIAM LOUIS "BILL" THOMPSON...MAY 31, 1940 - MARCH 14, 2012.
Bill, our friend, colleague and dedicated public servant, helped establish and build this trail and many trail systems throughtout Utah, including the Shoshone, Atapeen, Conger Mountain and Outlaw.
After retiring from the US Forest Service, Bill served as off highway vehicle coordinator and trails specialist for the Division of Utah State Parks and Receration, where he ehlped to build some of the finest trail systems in the coulntry, all of which are models of cooperative ATV Mangement.
This Orange Trail, a fifteen year project for Bill, is a legacy to his commitment, perseverance, and love of the out doors.
