Geocache Description:

Whytecliff Park has been a favourite destination of mine for many years. There is so much to do here: you can play tennis, have a picnic on the grass, explore the rocky terrain, watch for divers and seals, go boulder-hopping out to Whyte Islet, or cross the road to hike the wooded slopes along the Panorama Ridge Trails. And if you're not feeling particularly energetic, you can just sit quietly and watch the ferries slipping past as the sun goes down!

On one of my visits here a few years ago I noticed some old, barnacle-encrusted concrete footings down on the beach and I became curious as to why they are there. I did a little digging on the net and I found some old photos in the City of Vancouver Archives showing that there used to be a dock for small ferries that would take passengers to and from Bowen Island in the 1930s and 40s.

For comparison purposes, here's a photo I took the day I hid the cache container:
And the footings today (look closely near the water):

I understand that sometimes we find ourselves in a hurry but I truly hope you don't miss out by trying to make this a PNG. This park has so much to offer if you can spare some time for exploring. Cache on!
