Geocache Description:

The Mackay Historical Society was formed in 1972, in 1981 Greenmount homestead was bequethed to the society and was opened to the public in 1984. A combined management committee was formed n 1997 which obtained a large grant to restore Greenmount homestead but it meant that the Society had to move its archives  and collection elsewhere.

The Society built a shed to store its belongings and the old single mans quarters originally from Marian Mill was moved from Greenmount to this site to be used as a Museum. With the complete refurbishment of the building the members spent 18 months preparing the collection ready for opening in April 2004.

Holding local artefacts as well as displays on the history of Mackay from first inhabitants to the presant day.

The cache is an Eclipse container, the street can be muggle central at certain times.
