Holbeck Former Public Library was built in 1901 to a design by William Bakewell and opened in 1903. It is a grade II listed building. The Buildings listing details its a "red brick building faces in salt-glazed Burmantofts terracotta" along with a central tower with an Octagonal hipped roof. Listed decorations to the building include a Leeds coat of arms over the entrance along with Art Nouveau plaques and scrolls It began life a public library until the 1950s housing 8884 books. During the early days of the NHS it was used as a mother and baby clinic called 'The Wellcome'. Subsequently it became a public house called The Cambrian until 1990. Now it is used as offices.
