The reason this cache got archived was because of homeless muggles who took over the area but it seems the authorities have intervened and it is now safe to come here. Hopefully it won't happen again.
The cache is located at the Ninini Point shoreline where fishermen and the like venture down here for recreation or just to take in the relaxing aura of this place. The scenery is breathtaking and you might be able to see a few whales in the area if you are so lucky. The awesome part of being here is when the planes make their final approach to land at the Lihue airport. They fly directly over the top of the lighthouse that is situated here and this is a sight to behold! Soo.. cool. If you are on one of these flights, you would never know that you were flying over this place.
You will need to get on HI-51 (Kapule Hwy.) and turn at the Kauai Lagoons entrance. It’s a left turn if you are coming from the airport about 0.6 miles. Drive straight ahead through the yellow metal gates which are open during normal working hours. In about another .6 miles, keep right when you get to the first fork in the road. You will be driving along the side of the Kauai Lagoon Golf course. Please drive slowly because there will usually be pedestrians jogging or walking not to mention the golfers in carts that need cross the road to get to the next hole. After about another mile, you will come to a stop sign where you will need to turn left towards the shore access parking. The shore access parking will be on your right but you need to go left through another set of yellow gates. This is where the pavement ends and you will be driving on a dirt road the rest of the way. You will be able to see a lighthouse in the distance as you drive down to the ocean. This is where GZ is located. This road can become muddy at times and get slippery so drive carefully. The last, let’s say, 20 yards of the road down to GZ gets rough because of large rocks and pot holes you need to maneuver through. You could park above it and take the short walk down to GZ. A car would be able to make it but a jeep or truck would make easier trip.
Once you get to GZ, you will know you have arrived because of the views I mentioned. The cache is a small container that can hold small items. Bring a pen. There’s a new travel bug that I have placed in there for FTF to move along. Please log it ASAP if you decide to take it. Above all, please be sure to put the cache back how you found it or better so it won't get muggled. Mahalo and happy hunting!!
