Sunday, June 21, 2015 marks the official first day of summer and is also the longest day of the year, as well as being known as Summer Solstice. While the day of the solstice is the longest day, the timing of the solstice depends on when the Sun reaches the farthest point north of the equator.
For the 2015 year, the Sun will reach it’s furthest point at 8:39 am. The official sunrise will be at 4:19 am and the official sunset at 11:42 pm.
So those who wish, lets meet at the compass at the listed coordinates at 8:00 am, and at 8:39 we will take a group photo.
While you’re here, spend the day exploring the trails around Flat Top or any of the other trails. There are multiple caches around the area or spend the day out enjoying the outdoors since we will have more than 19 hours of daylight!
