A nice wee place to stop.
Just a short detour off the "main" road in the glen
We discovered this spot when we did a long archived cache here many years ago. Since then we have stopped here many times to sit on the bench or the rocks and have our lunch on the way up or down the glen. It also seems to be a popular wedding spot. There have been a couple of times we have been here and seen notice of an upcoming marriage attached to one of the trees.
The original bridge was built in the mid 1800's as access for Dalbrack Farm and probably more importantly to allow access across the river towards the hill path The Clash of Wirren which was one of the regularly used routes used by the whisky smugglers bringing the spirit down from Deeside to the low lying land of Strathmore.
The bridge was widened in 1953 by the estate, presumably to allow more modern vehicles to access the land over the river.
It's a lovely spot to sit on the stones above the bridge and let the kids and dogs have a paddle in good weather but beware of getting to close to the bridge, the water going through the narrow waterfall starts to get very fierce. if you look down from the other side of the bridge, the peaty water looks like it's part of the production line in a cola factory!
Cache is a drinks can sizes screwtop
