Monte Halparin, who was known publicly by the stage name Monty Hall, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 25, 1921. He began his long career as a public figure working for a Winnipeg radio station. His career took him to Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles, among others, where he hosted game shows, called hockey games, performed in children shows, etc. He is best remembered as the host of the popular game show Let’s Make A Deal, which he also co-produced and co-developed. This job made Hall a household name in the United States, hosting the popular game show for 18 years between 1963 and 1991. Hall received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1973. Now 93 years old, Monte Halparin continues to live in Beverly Hills, California.
Monty Hall’s legacy lives on through a logic problem dubbed, imaginatively, the “Monty Hall problem”. This problem has inspired many a mind to examine the nature of probability, and is based on a key moment in every episode of Let’s Make A Deal. Look it up if you want to learn more.
Congratulations to MosesRIP and myst354 for the FTF!
