Geocache Description:

Got a tip from a friend that there was this Texas Historical Marker out there with no geocache.  Mouth watering and licking my chops, time was a wasting so I skedaddled my hiney out there and took care of that post haste.  Hope you enjoy Texas history as much as I do.  Original contents: log, Christmas necklace, bottle opener, little toy animal, key chain.  Happy Caching!

WHOA! HOLD THE PHONE! I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE LICKING MY CHOPS ON THIS MARKER LOL. ANOTHER AWESOME FTF BY PALEOPOPPY - WAY TO GO!

MOORE SCHOOL:  Historical Marker.  In 1906 a group of pioneers arrived on the frontier north of Big Spring to take advantage of rancher Sid Moore's offer to sell land to farmers.  4 acres were set aside, and a 1-room school ws built in 1906. The first school term hosted one teacher and 15 students and lasted 6 months.  in 1908 a second teacher was hired, and they used a curtain to partition the classrooms.  Both school and community were named to honor Mr. Moore and the school became he center of a lot of community activities.  Once there was a double wedding performed on the front steps.  They added a residence for teachers in 1933 and a 1934 bond election brought funds to build on and add a gym.  On February 26, 1945, the school and adjoining buildings were destroyed in a fire, never to be rebuilt. The school district was discontinued and partitioned as required by the Gilmer-Aiken School Law, in 1949.
