Our short Woodland Walk trail will bring you through Clonmore Park, a small but pleasant park located in Sandyford. It is named after Clonmore House, which was built during the 18th century on the land now covered by the park. Regarding our trail’s name, although most of the park itself is more grassland than woodland, the path does begin in woodland terrain, and the rest of the park’s path is lined with woodland to the left, so it’s never too far away.
The walk from the first cache to the last should take about twenty minutes (without counting the time taken to search for each cache). The park contains a playground for the geokids, and please note that dogs must be kept on leads. The park does not have its own official carpark, but there is plenty of parking space available in the surrounding housing estates. Alternatively it is about a ten minute walk from the Stillorgan Luas stop.
Cache #3 is decidedly more physically challenging than its predecessors. The cache can definitely be reached without any tools other than strength and stamina, but PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL, and don’t attempt to get it if you don’t feel safe doing so. Some may find a ladder useful (but the cache was placed without one)! While retrieving this cache please remember to use as much stealth as you possibly can; the park is a popular location for local residents, and due to the large reservoir directly opposite ground zone, the process of retrieving/replacing this cache may appear quite suspicious!
Congratulations to icklelego and fadingdimensions for the FTF!!
