Geocache Description:

Newport Pagnell was recorded in the Domesday Book as a centre of fellmongery
A fellmonger, for those of us that didn't know, is a person who prepares hides or skins for the tanner to turn into leather and later vellum and parchment for writing purposes.

Across the river to the left is the countries only remaining parchment producer.

Founded in 1870, It is still a family business, with over four generations still on the same site (with recent building improvements)
They make the finest quality parchment and vellum, by hand, using techniques and skills over 2000 years old.

The cache is here to introduce you to a little bit of local history.

The cache itself it not themed by the historic information - although I was tempted to hide a cow somewhere.

You may need a tool to aid retrieving this cache, no climbing is needed. If the cache is replaced correctly you wont need anything special to retrieve, If not be prepared to look for something to use to reach the retrieval method.

Please return the cache as you found it
(or as its suppose to be)

If all wasn't in order - please let me know.

Please remember...
There is water very nearby.
Keep a close eye on children and pets.
