EN: Samuil is a bulgarian king, who ruled from 997 till 6th of October 1014. He is the first ruler of the Komitopulli dynasty. Since 971 Samuel rules Bulgaria together with his three brothers, and after their death he becomes the actual ruler of the bulgarian people. For decades he manages to stop the byzantian emperor Vasilii II's attacks and even deals great damage. The wars for domination against Byzantine last throughout his whole rule. King Samuel dies on the 6th Octobre 1014, most probably due to a heart attack, prior to seeing his soldiers, all blind, after the battle near Belasitsa. After the king's death, Bulgaria doesn't stand long against Byzantian attacks and falls under Byzantian rule.

EN:Academician Ivan Vazov is a Bulgarian poet, writer, playwriter and a national leader, often called "the patriarch of Bulgarian literature." Vazov's work is a reflection of two historical eras - Renaissance and post-liberation. Vazov wrote one of the most significant Bulgarian works - "Under the Yoke", which is actually the first written Bulgarian novel. Ivan Vazov completely dedicated himself and all his works to the bulgarian nation, supporting it throughout the biggest crisis the country suffered. His love for Bulgaria gave him the power to guide the nation and show them the correct way, gave them strength not to give up and to fight. Vazov was an ipmortant figure in Bulgarian history as the man who fought for the nation, something the politicians back then ommited doing. Upon his death on the 22nd September 1921, on the 24th of September the city remained in grief as the procession to his grave went on. His coffin was lowered under the sound of 101 cannon blows, a ritual, that only kings got and deserved. The love for the national poet remains until today. Ivan Vazov is still one of the most important teachers in Bulgarian history and still guides the nation thanks to all his works, gives us an example of love and patriotism for all that's ours. We thank him for everything!
