Geocache Description:

Plainwell was proud to bring the Smithsonian Exhibit, “The Way We Worked,” to town during the summer of 2015. As part of this exhibit ten new caches were placed in and around Plainwell to highlight this great community and the occupations of its inhabitants. Pick up clues from each of the 10 traditional caches and put them together. When you turn your final answer in at City Hall you can take home your very own Island City commemorative token!

To claim your commemorative token while supplies last, turn you answers in at Plainwell City Hall during normal business hours. 211 Main St, Plainwell (Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm).

"Children traditionally helped with chores in the home or on the family farm. But in the 1800's many American children also worked in factories, mines, and mills. Employers liked hiring children because they could pay them low wages. Small fingers could reach into looms when fibers were stuck. Small bodies could squeeze into tight spaces in mines. many jobs were dangerous, but many families needed the money desperately. Minimum-age rules for child workers were finally set by the Fair Labor Standards Act in 1938.

Check out the Smithsonian Exhibit in Plainwell to see compelling photos by Lewis Hines of Child Labor in America in 1908-1912."

You will find a camouflaged pill bottle at gz.

As always, it's up to you whether or not to pursue finding and signing the log on a particular geocache -- please know that you choose to find each of these geocaches, and do so at your own risk. !
