This was the site of my very first geocache (Shaddie's Secret) hidden in 2008. It was a cunning camo job attached to an old disused meterbox on a disconnected power pole. It lasted until November 2013 when the Shire decided to tidy up and ripped out the pole and box — and geocache, never to be seen again.
Undaunted I made a new similarly themed cache (Son of Shaddie's Secret) which I placed on another power pole. It lasted nearly two years before Western Power ripped out that one!
I gave up.
But... this is such a lovely spot, and cries out for a geocache! After a decent interval to allow others to use it, I have returned to the scene of the crime and done another crafty —but more conventional— camouflaged cache.
This time it's well hidden, tucked away in a spot far from the madding Muggles in a discrete corner of the carpark, where I hope it will be safe from official vandalism. It is disguised as a harmless object; innocculous and common; even ugly, but just sufficiently 'wrong' to attract the eye of an observant searcher...
And many thanks to my neighbour Kamal for his expertise in fashioning the external disguising layer of the cache!
