Circa 1890 this field was turned into Allotment Gardens. During the late Seventies a number of old glass bottles were found in the bottom left hand corner of the field.
In the early 17th Century, the Hobbucks (local corruption of "Howbeck") was part of Arnhall North Field. In the late 18th Century, Arnold fields were "enclosed", which meant the division of North Field into large seperate plots of land with fences, which is how the hobbucks is still divided today.
The site is now a valuable habitat for birds and small mammals due to dense shrub thickets which are in the process of naturally regenerating to become young woodland. The wildflower meadows and tree and hedge planting provide new habitats for wildlife. Work to improve and maintain the site is ongoing.
